We know that committing time to yourself is sometimes very hard. That’s why the professionals at Bryn Mawr Dermatology do everything we can to make each visit as results-driven as possible. Once you have had a thorough consultation with your provider, and you’ve decided that Sofwave™ is the best way to reach your aesthetic goals, we will set up an appointment at your convenience for treatment.
Because the procedure is non-invasive and does not require the use of exfoliative chemicals or high-intensity light, there is no preparation required. You can continue using all of your Clinical Skin Care products normally, and do not have to avoid sun exposure or modify any of your medications.
When you arrive, we will take your “before” pictures so we can accurately gauge your response to treatment. You will then be made comfortable in one of our procedure suites and your skin will be prepped by cleansing it and applying a topical anesthetic to take the edge off. After you are situated, your Sofwave™ specialist will apply the device applicator to your skin and deliver controlled pulses of ultrasound energy to the treatment areas. This takes between 15 and 45 minutes, based on the territory we are covering.
Each time the device pulses there is a subtle clicking sound that is designed to alert the practitioner that it is time to move on. Each pulse lasts four seconds, and is delivered simultaneously with a burst of contact cooling. Most patients experience some short-lived discomfort during the procedure, but ultimately tolerate it well. Our Sofwave™ experts will communicate with you constantly during your visit to ensure that we answer all your questions and explain each step.

B stands for Beam. To get techy here, an “ultrasound wave is produced when an electric current is applied to an array of piezoelectric crystals. This causes distortion of the crystals, makes them vibrate and produce this acoustic wave. The summation of the waves produces an ultrasound beam.“
